Abeking and Rasmussen is a family-based business which builds various types of ships such and their main focus is in luxury yachts but they also build navy boats, boats for the authorities e.g. search and rescue boats and they also build ships for commercial industries. The company was founded in 1907 by George Abeking and Henry Rasmussen and it is located in Bremen, Germany, without subsidiaries in other countries. They employ approx. 430 people, 40 of which are trainees.

The marketing for luxury yachts is growing since there are more and more billionaires who can afford to buy A&R yachts. Also the market trend is that new owners want larger, but cheaper yachts. This requires changes within A&R, but there is a bright future ahead for this business.
