What jobs are available?
Within the company there are many different roles.
The vast majority of their employees work on the ships: designing, engineering, building, and maintaining them.
In addition, there is a small group of roughly 15 people in sales, finance and administration. So most job opportunities are technical based roles.
What qualities would you need to work at Abeking and Rasmussen?
You would need the ability to work in a team, have a good understanding of technology. You would also need a qualified graduation from a general education school and have affinity with construction work. A good understanding of English is also useful.
What types of training is available?
They offer training courses at different levels such as construction and industrial mechanics, or logistics officer, or boat builder. Additionally, there is also a training program for electronic engineering. You could also follow a dual study in shipbuilding and ship engineering at the university of Bremen and Flensburg.
So you can work with Abeking and Rasmussen while you are still studying and use it as practical training.
What opportunities do the trainees have after their training with Abeking and Rasmussen?
All trainees are offered a job at the company. Furthermore it is good at providing them with practical experience when finding jobs in other workplaces.
What would the training involve?
All training programs take three and a half years, except the dual study program which takes four and a half years.
During the training program you will learn about all relevant aspects of shipbuilding, both theoretical and practical. This would be covered in workshops and whilst working on the ships.
